Manager for the Canadian Cancer Trials Group (CCTG) Tumour Tissue Data Repository (TTDR) Shakeel Virk is the Manager for the Canadian Cancer Trials Group (CCTG) Tumour Tissue Data Repository (TTDR). He also serves as Director of Operations for the Queen’s Laboratory for Molecular Pathology (QLMP) in the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine at Queen’s University. He has overseen tissue banking activities of the TTDR since 2003 for over 150 clinical trials. His lab provides laboratory services including immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, tissue microarray construction, electron microscopy, digital pathology, DNA/RNA isolation, and many other assays. Shakeel has a strong interest in digital pathology and image analysis and has set up the Queen’s Virtual Microscopy platform for scanning, sharing, annotating and analyzing high resolution pathology slide images. He has served as Chair of the US National Cancer Institute (NCI) National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN) Group Banking Committee (GBC), and serves on many CCTG and Pathology and Molecular Medicine committees.
