Congratulations to Dr. Shivani Dadwal from the GI committee and everyone at CCTG on her first patient enrollment on the CRC.10 trial  as a new investigator!

Dr. Shivani Dadwal is a medical oncologist at the Juravinski Cancer Centre in Hamilton with a cross appointment at McMaster University University. She completed her undergraduate degree at Queen’s in Life Sciences before moving to Hamilton for medical school, and staying on for her internal medicine and medical oncology training. She completed two further years of sub specialty fellowship in GI cancers and also obtained a Masters in Health Professions Education from Maastricht University. She went on to work at Queen’s as a part of the Kingston group before returning to Hamilton. Her areas of academic interest include EDI, understanding and addressing barriers to care, educational scholarship and programming, and wellness outreach within the medical system. She primarily treats GI cancers, and has taken on sarcoma this past year as well. She is presently the trials lead for the GI disease site team at the Juravinski Cancer Centre. 

Dr Dadwal is also a 2024-2025 CCTG New Investigator Practicum graduate.

CRC10 (NCT05174169) (NRG-GI008) Colon Adjuvant Chemotherapy Based on Evaluation of Residual Disease (CIRCULATE-NORTH AMERICA)

Researchers are leveraging new technology to identify tiny amounts of cancer cell DNA in the blood, circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA), as an indicator of the presence of otherwise undetectable numbers of residual colon cancer cells after surgical removal of the main tumour. The goal of the research is to determine whether and how using this information about the presence or absence of ctDNA may allow them to make better decisions about what kind and amount of chemotherapy to recommend to patients after surgery for colon cancer.
