"I am grateful and privileged to receive 2026 CCTG Founder’s Award – the Dr. Joseph Pater Excellence in Clinical Trials Research Award. Dr Pater through leadership, innovation and hard work established the Canadian Cancer Trials Group (CCTG) which has become a gold standard and world leader in Cancer Clinical Trials.  Under his guidance, CCTG embarked on an expanding spectrum of activity, from first-in-human studies to randomized phase 3 trials supported by state of the art translational and health services research. This has led to seminal trials which have improved the standard of cancer patient care and outcomes in Canada and internationally. Furthermore, he has mentored a generation of physician researchers, many of whom have become prominent leaders in their fields of endeavor."
