Wednesday, January 09, 2019 Congratulations to Professor Janette Vardy (University of Sydney) and Doctor Haryana Dhillon (University of Sydney) who were successful in their funding application to the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) to continue the CCTG led CHALLENGE (CO.21) trial in Australia The approximatly one million dollar grant provides funding to continue follow up for all patients already recruited to the CHALLENGE study in Australia study, with follow up moving to central follow up from years 5- 10, AND ongoing recruitment for 2019 – 2020 at the 5 key Australian sites that continued to self-fund the study this year. “It has been a “challenging” year but we were able to move forward with interim funding from both Sydney University and Queens University. We would like to thank them for their support during this process and for the duration of the CHALLENGE study,” said Professor Janette Vardy at the University of Sydney. “We look forward to a renewed push with recruitment at our five key sites and to continuing to work with you on this landmark study,” says Dr. Haryana Dhillon at the University of Sydney. The CCTG Challenge Trial (C0.21) opened in 2009 with patients across Canada, the US, the UK, Australia, Israel, and South Korea to ask the specific question: Will exercise help prevent colon cancer from coming back?
