New - CCTG Centre Support Program

A funding initiative supporting centres to activate trials and enroll to CCTG trials
New - CCTG Centre Support Program

Over the last six months, Centre Representatives and Contact CRAs at Canadian CCTG participating centres have been asked to share some of the challenges they’ve been experiencing around patient accrual and trial activations. This has included a Virtual Road Show of six 90-minute regional sessions and two surveys to supplement Road Show discussions and attempt to drill down on specific issues impacting accrual and trial activations, including around funding that may be impacting centres’ ability and capacity to activate and enroll patients to trials.

As a result of this engagement, CCTG has developed a new funding initiative, the Centre Support Program (CSP), designed to support and incentivize centres to activate trials and enroll patients to CCTG trials. Specifically, the CSP’s goal is to accelerate trial activation and reward high accrual performance to facilitate greater access to innovative and cutting-edge clinical trials and improve outcomes for patients with cancer.

The CSP includes the following:

  1. Trial Activation Funding
For those trials centrally activated by CCTG between 1January2023 - 31December2024, centres would receive up to a maximum of $5000 for each trial activated IF the the trial is activated within the targeted number of months specified for that trial. For those trials that already include activation funding, additional funding will be provided to the $5000 maximum. For those trials activated within six months, centres will receive an additional $2000 “rapid” trial activation payment.
  2. Accrual Performance Funding
To support and reward high performance patient accrual, a quarterly accrual target based on each centre’s average accrual over the past three years, including all trial accruals except MAC22, will be determined. Those centres that exceed their quarterly accrual target will receive an additional $1000 for each accrual over the target. Those that exceed their annual target by more than 20% will receive an additional $500 for each accrual over the 20% target.
