Wednesday, March 04, 2020 BR16 (E5597) (NCT00008385) trial: Phase III Chemoprevention Trial of Selenium Supplementation in Persons With Resected Stage 1 Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer has been permanently closed. Overview: Chemoprevention therapy is the use of certain drugs to try to prevent the development or recurrence of cancer. It is not yet known if selenium is effective in preventing the growth of new tumors in patients with previously resected non-small cell lung cancer. This randomized phase III trial studied selenium to see how well it works compared to a placebo in preventing the development of second primary lung tumors in patients who have undergone surgery to remove stage I non-small cell lung cancer. For more information please visit the CCTG BR16 trial page IND222 ( NCT02619864) A Phase I Study of the mTORC1/mTORC2 Kinase Inhibitor AZD2014 in Patients with Previously Treated Glioblastoma Multiforme has been permenatnly closed. Overview: The standard or usual treatment for this disease is standard chemotherapy alone. AZD2014 is a new type of drug for glioblastoma multiforme. In the laboratory it has been shown to slow the growth of glioblastoma multiforme. In some animal studies AZD2014 seemed to work better when given with a drug called temozolomide.
