Facilitator | Andre Veillette MD Wednesday, December 31, 2025 Dr. Veillette is a Full Research Professor and Director of the Molecular Oncology Research Unit, Institut de recherches cliniques de Montréal (IRCM), Full Professor, Department of Medicine, University of Montréal, Adjunct Professor, Department of Experimental Medicine, McGill University, and the Executive Director at the Marathon of Hope Cancer Centres Network, The Terry Fox Research Institute.Dr. André Veillette is a world-recognized immunologist and medical oncologist interested in signal transduction mechanisms in the immune system. Over the past three decades, he has identified and characterized numerous intracellular molecules and receptors that play a crucial role in normal immune regulation. A number of these molecules are directly or indirectly involved the pathogenesis of leukemias, lymphomas and other malignancies. They have also been linked to the development of immunodeficiencies and auto-immunity. These proteins are potential targets for therapeutic immunoregulation in the treatment of cancer, auto-immune diseases and viral infections. Dr. Veillette uses state-of-the-art genetic, molecular, biochemical and cellular approaches to study these molecules. “Mentorship plays a huge role in the professional development of young people, especially those with high-intensity jobs like clinicians and researchers. This program is a great opportunity for Canadian professionals to work together and lift each other up, as Terry Fox did 45 years ago with his Marathon of Hope. It also provides an investment into future leaders in cancer clinical trials, strengthens individual careers, and helps to position Canada as a leader in clinical trials now and into the future."August | Strengthening Networking and Building Global LeadershipStrategic Networking: identify, approach and sustain relationships with key opinion leaders, policymakers, regulatory agencies, global collaborators.Building and leading multi country research networksCross-cultural leadership: navigating collaborations across diverse health care systems.Identifying and grooming talents: mentorship/sponsorship roles building for succession planning.
